The Northwest Hospital Emergency Department includes:
- 12,000 square feet of patient care areas
- 24 private treatment rooms, including five trauma/critical care rooms
- Mobile admitting stations, allowing bedside patient admissions
- A triage room that is staffed 24 hours a day
- Quick access to other key treatment areas in the hospital , such as the , cardiac catheterization lab
- Waiting areas for family and friends
The Northwest Hospital Emergency Department also:
- Supports our cardiology patients by reducing door-to-“balloon” time for patients needing immediate cardiac catheter treatment. This means one of the fastest times-to-treatment in the region for cardiac patients.
- Facilitates immediate patient entry into the hospital’s Stroke Program , which is dedicated to improving recovery rates for stroke patients through rapid response, team medicine and a standardized plan of care

Our staff includes physicians who are board certified in emergency medicine and emergency nurses with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), pediatric and trauma training. Over the years, the Northwest Hospital childbirth team has shared in the excitement you and your partner are feeling, today. Along with the mounting anticipation of welcoming your new baby into the world, parents-to-be also have to synthesize a lot of new information and make preparations for their growing family. Sometimes this can feel overwhelming but don’t worry; our team is here to help.
Every mother who takes a tour and chooses to give birth at the Childbirth Center will receive an informative binder. This binder is designed to prepare you for the adventure of pregnancy, labor and delivery and later, bringing your new baby home. This packet also includes a complementary six month subscription to interactive online parenting tutorials and videos, which will help answer all your questions and prepare you for the big day.
You have nine months to prepare for your baby’s birth but you need to prepare for your baby’s life, too. You and your partner have many decisions to make over the next coming months – choosing an obstetrician , picking out the proper crib and deciding if you are going to use cloth or disposable diapers. Another very important decision is choosing a physician who will care for your baby, and possibly the rest of your family, too.
